"Where Will The River Flow" | Friday 9 September 2022

MATT CARMICHAEL QUINTETT

The first band from Scotland at eastPLUGGED® exceeded all "expectations" during their great performance at the Friedenskirche: Matt Carmichael [sax], Fergus McCreadie [p], Tom Potter [dr], Ali Watson [b] and Charlie Stewart [v], all in their early 20s, nevertheless already on the road together for many years, presented excerpts of their musical journey through the mountains, rivers and lochs of the Scottish Highlands: From Cononbridge, a small village in the Highlands, to river Spey, the longest in the country; all original compositions, often melodic, but also improvising to open new musical spaces, and always facing the question: "Where Will The Rover Flow". The audience was enthusiastic, the guys "happy" and the organizer glad having selected a young band with a putative great future.

A big thanks to Matt, Fergus, Ali, Charlie and Tom for this musical journey through Scotland.
