Looking back we can be grateful that Rob Luft lost out to Daniel Ratcliffe in the casting for the Harry Potter films 20 years ago, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to welcome this great guitarist together with drummer Jon Fält and Ellen Andrea Wang [double bass and voice] in their congenial trio at eastPLUGGED®. The diverse program "Closeness" comprised very personal pieces ["Waiting", the time until the birth of Ellen's daughter], groovy and rhythmic sounds [like Erasmus] as well as a wonderful cover version of "This is not America" [David Bowie, Pat Metheny]. Jon presented himself as a drummer and percussionist in one; it was impressive to see and hear what he produced in terms of sounds and rhythms using his cheek as well as a wide variety of elements to hit, pull and scrape. And Ellen, the band leader, received the long-lasting applause of the enthusiastic audience equally for her compositions, her bass playing and her expressive voice.
